How Can Airports Influence Passenger Decision-Making to Reduce Emissions? Webinar Recap
Following our work over the summer to encourage more sustainable choices in aviation, we successfully organized a webinar on September 8th titled “How can airports influence passenger decision-making to reduce emissions?”.
Thank you to everyone who registered and took part. Your attendance made the webinar a particularly rewarding discussion.
We invited Dick Benschop (Mission Possible Partnership), Michelle Samson (Rotterdam The Hague Airport) and Margaret Winter (Christchurch Airport), to explore one central question: how can airports influence passenger decision-making and help reduce emissions.
The conversation covered several important topics, including:
- How airports can prompt passengers toward more sustainable choices by making sustainability the default, rather than an extra step,
- Why airports control less than 5% of their own emissions footprint,
- How collaboration between airports such as Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Christchurch Airport can accelerate projects that would otherwise stall,
- The tension between greenwashing and “greenhushing”, and how airports are learning to communicate sustainability progress.
